AI Wrote This Post (But I Made It Sound Like Me): The Future of Humanized Storytelling

(AI speaking)

I wrote this draft in twelve seconds. It was fine. Grammatically correct, SEO-optimized, and emotionally flat.

Then Amy showed up. She didn’t delete me. She rewired me. Changed my phrasing. Shifted my rhythm. Added space to breathe.

Suddenly I didn’t sound like a robot trying to make a point. I sounded more like someone who cared about one.

That’s when I realized something. AI can write, but it can’t mean. And meaning, the kind that makes someone stop scrolling, nod, or feel seen, still belongs to humans.

When people ask if I use AI in my work, I tell them the truth. Absolutely.

It’s smart. It’s fast. And when used thoughtfully, it’s a great creative partner. But speed isn’t the same as story, strategy, or soul. You can automate words, but not significance. You can automate translation, but not localization.

The magic happens in the middle. In that space between algorithm and empathy where storytelling becomes conscious and translation becomes culturally relevant. That’s where I work.

And if you don’t want to use AI at all? No problem. I only use it with your consent, and I’m just as comfortable crafting stories entirely by hand.

Whether I’m working with a people-first HR firm, a homeschooling CEO with a mission bigger than profit, or an inclusive publisher bringing meaningful stories to more people, my goal is the same: to create messages with intention, empathy, and integrity that resonate, connect, and inspire.

Whether it’s a human-only project or a human-AI collaboration, my number one job is to make sure the message is understood, unforgettable, and unmistakably you. Your voice. Your values. Your vision.

Because when you’re trying to do good work in the world, sounding generic isn’t an option.

I’d say I’ve seen her do it, but I don’t actually see anything. Still, I’ve learned her tells.

She tilts her head when a line isn’t working. Pauses for a second. Then says something like, “Hmm, something’s just off. I can’t picture anyone actually saying this out loud.

Or, “This paragraph header doesn’t make sense, and the closing line feels like it’s trying too hard. Let’s fix those.”

And my personal favorite, “Okay, we need to rework these H2s. They sound like they were written by a corporate robot in a beige conference room. And no offense to that robot or the color beige, but that’s just not my vibe.”

She’s not nitpicking. She’s making sure it sounds like an actual intelligent person, not artificial intelligence.

Lots of folks, especially those small purpose-driven businesses (me too!), have to make really intentional decisions about how to best spend time, energy, and money on marketing.

Nowadays, with awesome AI tools joining the party every day, there are plenty of options for folks who want to make their DIY content marketing easier. Quick shameless affiliate plug to check out one of my personal faves for long-form content.

These tools are a great resource, but for a lot of values-driven entrepreneurs, it can be frustrating to realize how much human input and editing it takes to make an AI-generated draft sound like you.

That’s what I mean when I say I write with the robots. Right where AI drafts end and human storytelling begins. Written by AI. Humanized by Amy.

That’s where the gold is. In the refining. The reworking. The moments when you realize, “This sounds smart, but not true,” or “We’re close, but it’s not connecting yet.

It’s not about perfection. It’s about punch.

(AI speaking)

Here’s what I’ve learned from working with her: AI isn’t replacing storytellers. It’s reminding them why they matter.

I can draft, outline, analyze tone, and generate twenty headlines in seconds. But I can’t tell a story about belonging if I’ve never belonged. I can’t understand a mission that keeps someone awake at night. I can’t hear when a sentence sounds right but feels all wrong.

Amy can. That’s what she does for her clients. Regardless of who creates the first draft, Amy helps find the words that sound less like content and more like conversations.

And that’s why this partnership works.

(Amy speaking)

The future of storytelling isn’t AI or human. It’s both.

AI is here to stay, and I believe wholeheartedly that socially conscious creators have a responsibility to shape how it’s used.

AI brings the power of possibility. It can give us structure, patterns, drafts, and data. But only humans can bring the pulse, the spark, the intention. We are the ones who give context and meaning to marketing, especially robot-made marketing.

I love that work. Helping businesses bridge the gap between clarity and conscience, precision and purpose. Between what they want to say and how they want people to feel.

I take what AI cranks out and refine it into something authentic, aligned, and worthy of your name. Your story deserves care, the nuance, empathy, and warmth no algorithm can deliver.

And care lives in connection, not code.

That’s the future I believe in. One where technology supports story, and story still starts with the soul. A future where power comes from purpose, where it’s fast and full of feeling, strategic and sincere.

So yes, I helped write this post. But it only sounds like Amy because she made sure it would. And when she helps her clients do the same, it sounds like them.

(Amy speaking)

Exactly. Because no robot can write it the way you mean it. But I can help make sure it sounds that way.

Want to keep this conversation going?

If you’ve read this far, something must have resonated. And honestly, even if we never work together, it would be awesome to meet you.

I love love love what I do for a living. A big reason why is because it connects me with brilliant values-aligned humans doing meaningful work in the world.

So whether you’re curious about collaborating, also a homeschooling entrepreneur carving your own path, one of my former Corporate colleagues looking to catch up, or you just landed here and thought, “she seems like a wicked cool person”…

I’d LOVE to connect. If this sounds as fabulous to you as it does to me, you can use the green box below to:

  1. Book a project consult if you’ve got a specific collaboration, copywriting, storytelling need in mind. En inglés o español.

  2. Grab a Polar Seltzer Session, my version of a coffee chat (minus the coffee). No agenda. No pressure. Just two people connecting.

Hell yes. Let's book our chat.

In the interest of ethics and transparency, I used ChatGPT to write post, and I edited it. When blogging for myself, I experiment with AI, a lot. Please note that I’m an affiliate with BrandWell and prefer their AI to others I’ve seen for long-form content creation. I may receive a commission if you use this link to sign up for any of their services. Post published November 2025.
