AI Policy Introduction:

AI is not going anywhere. While I don’t think robots will fully replace me or any of my brilliant copywriter colleagues in my lifetime, I do think that if we don’t adapt and learn how to work with the robots, we risk becoming obsolete. And I love what I do too much, not to mention in my not-so-humble opinion, I am too good at what I do to become obsolete. I believe wholeheartedly that, despite its drawbacks, it’s important for socially conscious creators to use and influence these tools now so the robots don’t only learn bias. As a socially conscious business owner who values autonomy and transparency, I believe you have a right to know how I use AI so you can make informed decisions that best serve your business goals.

Use of AI Technologies

Purpose
I am a word nerd at heart and I love experimenting with AI. There’s so much cool nuance to language and it’s fascinating to get a robot’s take on our human words. Because I would never say lexicon in real life, I will say that the sheer volume of words and language I understand has increased by leveraging robot capacity and capabilities. So far, this has led to some pretty cool benefits in terms of the efficiency, creativity, and impact of my words.

Transparency:
I use AI in my content regularly, though almost exclusively in my blog. I will always disclose if I use AI at the bottom of a page. If you don’t see this disclaimer, those are my words. Period. As a word nerd, I genuinely enjoy experimenting with AI for prompt engineering, research, ideation, brainstorming, wordsmithing, drafting, editing, and just keeping up with the tech. However, the biggest reason I use AI is because it expands my capacity.

I’m a homeschooling mom and entrepreneur who delivers hands-on learning to my kiddos and hands-on service to my clients. I don’t have the time or desire to hang out on social media, and I get too many emails already, so I don’t like sending them. Being able to produce quality blog content at scale to help drive traffic to my website so that my people can read it at their convenience has been a highly valuable and values-aligned business and marketing strategy for me.

I am an affiliate of Brandwell, “The All-in-One Content Marketing Platform that Drives Growth, Designed for Marketers that Care.” I LOVE their AI and highly recommend it to other small businesses that are DIYing their blog content. I will receive a small commission, at no cost to you, if make any purchases through Brandwell links on my website.

Consent:
We will discuss your AI preferences during onboarding, though as a matter of policy, practice, and ethics, I will NEVER use AI in your projects without your advanced knowledge and consent. If you agree, I generally only use AI in client projects for research, brainstorming, and wordsmithing. I do not input your data or content into AI or use AI for drafting or editing client projects UNLESS that’s what you hired me to do.

AI Copywriting & Editing Quality:
If you hire me for AI copywriting and editing, and only in those cases, I will still personally review, fact check, and edit all AI-generated content to align with your brand voice. I will also have the content run through the same plagiarism checkers I use with my traditional copywriting and storytelling client projects. And as a reminder again, if you hire me to write bespoke original content, AI will not be used in your project without your consent, and NEVER for drafting or editing.

This AI Policy May Change

There are many legal and ethical considerations related to AI that will evolve as the technology evolves. This includes but is not limited to concerns around:

  • Bias, prejudice, and cultural sensitivity

  • Accuracy, reliability, and plagiarism

  • Intellectual property and content ownership rights

  • Data and personal privacy

  • Environmental impact

I value purpose, people, planet, and then profits. In a world that is not (yet) defined by conscious capitalism, integrating these values into business is an interesting balancing act. As the tech, laws, and ethics evolve, and as I learn more about the broader societal impact of AI, this policy may change.
