This piece was written earlier in my learning journey and reflects where my thinking and language were at the time. Since then, my understanding of equity, inclusion, and cultural context has continued to evolve through ongoing reflection and antiracism work. I’m also more mindful today of how language around mental health — including phrases like “sanity” — can unintentionally reinforce ableist assumptions. I share this piece as part of that ongoing learning and growth.
