Finding the Right Copywriter: Why It’s About Fit, Not Hype

If you’ve ever searched for a copywriter online, you’ve probably seen it all: bold promises about six-figure launches, guarantees of “irresistible” sales pages, and a whole lot of hype.

Here’s the truth: there are a lot of talented writers out there. Many of them are dear friends. I don’t believe for one second that I’m the only person capable of writing great copy.

What matters most isn’t finding the “best” copywriter on the internet. It’s finding the right one for you. Someone who works in a way that feels aligned with your values, your timeline, and your way of doing business.

I’m not your average freelance copywriter or storyteller for hire…

And that’s precisely why I want to share what it’s like to work with me — and just as importantly — what it’s not like.

Working with me isn’t a one-size-fits-all situation.

I meet you where you’re at and create something that’s truly yours. My background in consulting means I start with a needs assessment and then customize from there. While I have my own approach, I don’t follow rigid formulas. Here are five things you can always expect from me:

1. Custom, not cookie-cutter (because you deserve better).

I take the time to listen, learn, and ask questions before I ever put words on a page. Every project is tailored to you. No templates, no recycled copy. You’ll walk away with something that sounds like you, not like everyone else.

2. Honesty first. No false promises, just real talk.

I’ll never tell you that copy alone will guarantee six figures or triple your conversion rate. Too many factors are at play — your offer, your audience, the market. What I can promise is that I’ll show up honestly, ethically, and with my full creative and strategic brain.

3. There are no copywriting emergencies (and that’s a good thing).

Compelling and conscious copy that connects takes time. Research, thought, iteration. If you need something fast and cheap, I’m not your person. But if you want work that lasts — storytelling full of strategy and soul — you’re in the right place.

4. I’m a human first (and a homeschooling mom always).

My family life comes first, and my clients respect that. I’m not glued to my laptop or working 24/7. Instead, I bring presence, focus, and care to the hours I do work — which means you get more intentional results.

5. If I can’t help you, I’ll point you to someone amazing who can.

I’m not an agency, and I’m not trying to do all the things. I have a strong network of collaborators: designers, coaches, VAs, HR specialists, tech folks, and more. If I’m not the right fit, I’ll connect you to someone I think you’d love. No ego, no gatekeeping.

Signs that we’re probably not an awesome fit.

I’m not for everyone, and that’s by design — especially in my Homeschool CEO era. (Huge thanks and shout out to my friends in The Homeschool CEO Society). If any of these sound like what you’re hoping for, we probably won’t be the right match:

  • a last-minute rush. If you’re thinking “I need this copy tomorrow,” I’m not your person. I am at my best when I’m creating intentional, empathetic, consciously researched words. That doesn’t work with emergencies.

  • the cheapest option. If “what’s your lowest price?” is your first question, you’ll find better fits elsewhere. I’m not the most expensive on these storytelling streets, but I own the skills, value, and experience I bring to the table.

  • 24/7 availability. If you expect me to be on-call around the clock, or posting on every platform every day, that’s not how I work. I prioritize and respect boundaries and balance — yours and mine.

  • guaranteed outcomes. If you want someone to promise “this copy will make you $$$,” that’s not ethical or realistic — and not how I’ll ever do business.

  • an all-in-one agency. If you want everything handled under one roof, I’m not it. I’m a hands-on partner, and when we’re outside my zone of genius, I connect you to trusted collaborators.

These aren’t “bad” needs — they’re just not what I offer. If none of this sounds like you, chances are this could be the start of a dreamy partnership.

What you can always expect from me:

  • Unlimited edits within scope. Because “good enough” isn’t good enough when it’s my mission to make your mission known, your magic understood, and your impact unforgettable.

  • Hands-on strategy + creativity. I bring an MBA, consulting experience, HR expertise, and years of storytelling to the table — in two languages.

  • Copy that feels like you. Words that reflect your brand voice, connect with your people, and authentically translate your mission and values.

  • Transparency and integrity. If I’m not the right fit, I’ll tell you. And then if you’re open to it, I’ll introduce you to someone who I think is.

  • Radical authenticity. I bring my full self to the work — prepared, professional, and human. Some days, that might include a hoodie, a messy bun, or a kid or cat making a cameo. You can expect realness, not performance, every time.

How I work as a conscious copywriter:

For me, this isn’t just about delivering projects. It’s about how we show up for each other as people.

  • respect is non-negotiable. I don’t tolerate discriminatory or hateful speech or actions. No to all the -isms and phobias that harm our shared humanity or flatten our unique identities. Ok?

  • life comes first. I’m a homeschooling CEO mom. If you need to reschedule — even last minute — no judgment. I’ll just hope you and your loved ones are okay. People matter more than calendars.

This is the foundation I bring to all of my work: safe, flexible, values-aligned collaboration.

Why finding the right copywriter is about fit, not flash.

At the end of the day, copywriting isn’t just about words on a page. It’s about relationship, trust, and alignment.

I’ve built my business, my family life, and my homeschooling journey by design. I don’t follow trends just because someone says I “should.” I do what works for me, and I attract clients who respect and value that.

If that sounds like what you’re looking for, then we’ll probably work really well together. And if not? That’s okay too. Because finding the right copywriter isn’t about hype. It’s about fit.

Want to keep this conversation going?

If you’ve read this far, chances are something about my approach resonates with you. And honestly? I’d love to meet you.

Here’s the thing: I don’t just love writing — I love connecting with values-aligned humans doing meaningful work in the world.

Whether you’re curious about collaborating, also a homeschooling entrepreneur carving your own path, one of my former HR colleagues looking to hear about life outside of Corporate, or you just landed here and thought, “she seems like a wicked cool person” — I’d be thrilled to chat.

You’ve got two options:

  1. Book a project consult if you’ve got a specific business collab or a specific copy or storytelling need in mind.

  2. Grab a Polar Seltzer Session. It’s my version of a coffee chat (except I don’t drink coffee). No agenda, no pressure. Just two people connecting.

Either way, use the green box below to book either call. I can’t wait to meet you.

Hell yes. Let's book our chat.
